Over the years we have seen companies adopting new practices. From Waterfall to agile and then DevOps, those practices affected companies structure and communication plans. Developers and Operations have become closer, gained more knowledge and teams have tried to be self dependent. While DevOps have shown great success in big companies, medium size companies have struggled, to the point that we sometimes see DevOps adoption only affecting the titles. The widespread use of tools and new technologies increased the cognitive load of the Developers and shadow IT is coming to the surface again from the cloud door. In this session we will go over the changes that affected our teams during this journey and we will explore whether Platform Engineering is here to take over from DevOps or it's just a new shiny title to attract talent in the market.
